Author Spotlight Series: Morgan Miller & “Pick A Job, Any Job”

It’s quite difficult choosing a career path. And that’s what young author, Morgan Miller, understood when she wrote Pick A Job, Any Job (2022). Readers are taken alongside Aaron and his dad as they tour the Career Museum! From this experience, Aaron realizes he has way more career options that suit his passions.

In an interview with Young Authors Publishing Assistant Editor, Brooke Shannon, Miller spoke of complicated career path choices, her creative outlets, and more!

Brooke Shannon: What inspired you to write your book?

Morgan Miller: I got my inspiration from watching some of the adults in my life complain about their jobs. No one should have to work at a job they’re unhappy with.

BS: What was one takeaway about writing you discovered while writing your book?

MM: For me, writing has always been either a creative outlet or a skill that was necessary for school. However, it took writing a book for me to realize I could do more with it.

"Whatever it is you want to do, just go for it."

BS: Who is your favorite author and why?

MM: Angie Thomas. The Hate U Give is one of my favorite books and I really resonate with it.

BS: What do you hope readers will take away from your book?

MM: I want them to know that it’s okay to not know. It’s more than alright to have no idea what you want to be or do in life.

BS: What advice would you give to young authors or creatives?

MM: I know it seems daunting and almost impossible, but I swear it’s doable! If you want to write a book then by all means, do it! Whatever it is you want to do, just go for it.
